Transforming Lives:
Child and Youth Care

By combining language and faith with therapeutic activities, we create spaces for wholeness, healing, and sanctity of children, youth, and families.

Therapeutic Milieu

Sanctity

Water /O-mi/ has the unique ability to wash off and remove muddy stains from surfaces.

Omi offers a nature-based milieu that approaches trauma from the lens of “muddy hands,” using “collaborative proactive solutions” (CPS) as the process by which we sanctify or rid the human mind of muddy thoughts and feelings.

Healing

Word /Ọ-rọ/ makes use of the bilateral dimension of communication for transformation.

By reframing “internalized negative messages,” this safe space provides viable tools for turning pain into power and creating opportunities for healing and restoration.

Wholeness

Spirit /Ẹ-mi/ is the deepest part of a person’s being and controls the quality of life being lived.

Striving towards self-fulfillment, the therapeutic environment emphasizes meaning-making and mindfulness techniques in promoting wholeness within the client’s ecosystem.

Renewing Minds

Renewing the mind begins with recognizing the powerful connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. Our thoughts shape how we interpret life, which in turn produces emotional responses that ultimately influence our behaviour. Negative thinking, such as fear, self-doubt, or distorted beliefs, can lead to harmful emotions like anxiety or anger, resulting in actions that damage relationships, limit growth, or reinforce unhealthy cycles. Conversely, positive, truthful, and hope-filled thoughts cultivate healthier emotions such as confidence, resilience, and gratitude. These emotions empower us to make wise decisions, respond with self-control, and build stronger relationships.

In a trauma-informed Child & Youth Care (CYC) approach, renewing the mind provides children, youth, and families with options. They can learn to identify harmful thought patterns, understand the emotions that follow, and choose actions that support healing rather than harm. Child and Youth Care Practitioners (CYCP) help them reframe negative beliefs, practice grounding techniques, develop emotional awareness, and build new behavioural responses. The goal is not judgment but empowerment, helping young people realize they have choices, they can break old cycles, and they can create healthier patterns for their future.
